Open Access Policy

1. Policy Statement

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku (JIP) is committed to promoting the dissemination, accessibility, visibility, and responsible reuse of scholarly research in psychology and behavioral sciences through open access publishing.

The journal provides immediate open access to its published scholarly content on the principle that making research freely available supports the global exchange of knowledge and advances scientific understanding.

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku recognizes that open access publishing contributes to the accessibility of research for scholars, practitioners, educators, students, policymakers, and the wider public.

This policy is informed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and relevant principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing.

Open access arrangements must remain consistent with the journal's copyright, licensing, intellectual property, and research ethics policies.

2. Immediate Open Access

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku provides immediate free access to published articles through its official website.

Readers may access and download published articles without subscription charges or mandatory payment for access.

The journal does not impose an embargo period before making its published articles available to readers.

Open access supports the timely dissemination of research findings and facilitates scholarly communication across institutional and geographic boundaries.

3. Open Access Publishing Model

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku operates an open access publishing model.

Under this model:

  • Published articles are made available online without reader subscription charges.

  • Access is provided through the journal's official publishing platform.

  • Copyright and reuse permissions are governed by the applicable publication license.

  • Scholarly content remains subject to publication ethics and intellectual property requirements.

  • Editorial decisions must be based on scholarly merit rather than commercial considerations.

Open access does not eliminate the journal's responsibility to maintain rigorous peer review, ethical oversight, and editorial independence.

4. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright to their published scholarly work under the copyright arrangements stated by Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and that they possess the rights necessary for publication.

Authors grant the journal the rights necessary to publish, identify, disseminate, and preserve the accepted work under the applicable publication agreement.

Copyright ownership must be distinguished from the permissions granted to readers through an open access license.

The journal's Copyright Notice and publication agreements must accurately reflect these arrangements.

5. Creative Commons License

According to the journal's published Open Access Statement, articles are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

License URL:

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/

This license permits sharing and adaptation of licensed material, subject to the applicable conditions.

Users must:

  1. Provide appropriate attribution.

  2. Provide a link to the license.

  3. Indicate whether changes were made.

  4. Use the licensed material only for noncommercial purposes.

  5. Distribute adaptations under the same license or a compatible license as permitted by the license terms.

  6. Avoid imposing additional restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

These permissions apply to material covered by the license. Third-party content excluded from the article's license may require separate authorization.

6. Attribution Requirements

Users who share or adapt licensed journal content must provide appropriate acknowledgment of the original work.

Attribution should include, where reasonably available:

  • Author names.

  • Article title.

  • Journal title.

  • Publication year.

  • DOI or permanent article URL.

  • Applicable Creative Commons license.

  • Indication of modifications, where relevant.

Attribution must not imply that the original authors, journal, or publisher endorse the reuse or adaptation.

Proper citation remains an essential requirement of scholarly integrity.

7. Noncommercial Use

The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license permits uses that comply with its noncommercial condition.

The license defines noncommercial use by reference to purposes not primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation.

Users intending to make commercial use of licensed material must obtain appropriate additional permission from the relevant rights holder unless another legal basis permits the use.

The journal and authors should not interpret the noncommercial condition more broadly or narrowly than the applicable license terms.

8. Sharing and Adaptation

Subject to the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, readers may share and adapt licensed material for permitted noncommercial purposes.

Examples may include:

  • Sharing articles with students or research colleagues.

  • Depositing permitted copies in repositories.

  • Incorporating properly attributed content into noncommercial educational materials.

  • Translating or adapting licensed content under the applicable conditions.

  • Using published findings in scholarly discussion and research.

Adaptations must comply with the ShareAlike condition and other applicable license requirements.

Permission to adapt the licensed article does not automatically authorize unauthorized use of separately protected third-party materials.

9. Third-Party Materials

Published articles may contain figures, images, psychological instruments, photographs, or other materials owned by third parties.

Such materials may be subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions.

Authors must obtain appropriate permission for third-party materials when required.

The inclusion of third-party material in an open access article does not automatically mean that the material is available under the article's Creative Commons license.

Where third-party materials are excluded from the article's license, the relevant restrictions should be identified clearly.

Readers are responsible for determining whether additional permission is required for their intended reuse.

10. Psychological Instruments and Copyright

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku recognizes that psychological assessment instruments may be subject to copyright, licensing, professional, or other restrictions.

The publication of a study involving a psychological instrument does not automatically authorize unrestricted reproduction of the instrument.

Authors must respect applicable permissions concerning:

  • Psychological test items.

  • Questionnaires and scales.

  • Scoring instructions.

  • Assessment manuals.

  • Translated or adapted instruments.

  • Proprietary assessment materials.

Where applicable, authors should explain instrument permissions and acknowledge the original developers or rights holders.

The journal's open access license must not be presented as overriding legitimate third-party rights.

11. Author Rights

Authors retain the rights provided under the journal's applicable copyright and publication arrangements.

These may include the ability to:

  1. Be recognized as the creators of their work.

  2. Share published articles in accordance with the applicable license.

  3. Reuse their work within the rights they retain.

  4. Deposit permitted article versions in repositories.

  5. Use their research in subsequent scholarly work.

  6. Distribute their publications for permitted educational and research purposes.

Authors must continue to respect third-party rights, co-author interests, confidentiality obligations, and applicable publication agreements.

12. Author Self-Archiving

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku supports responsible dissemination of scholarly work through appropriate repositories and institutional platforms.

Authors may share or deposit article versions in accordance with the journal's applicable copyright, licensing, and self-archiving policies.

The journal should clearly distinguish among:

  • Preprints.

  • Accepted manuscripts.

  • Published versions of record.

For each version, the journal should identify applicable permissions and conditions.

Where a published version is deposited, authors are encouraged to provide complete bibliographic information and a link to the official article.

Any additional restrictions must be consistent with the applicable publication license and author agreement.

13. Open Access and Research Data

Open access to a published article does not automatically require unrestricted public access to all underlying research data.

Research data may contain:

  • Identifiable personal information.

  • Sensitive psychological information.

  • Confidential clinical records.

  • Restricted institutional data.

  • Proprietary datasets.

  • Copyright-protected research instruments.

Authors must comply with applicable ethical, legal, and institutional requirements when sharing data.

The journal encourages responsible data transparency where appropriate, as described in its Data and Reproducibility Policy.

Participant confidentiality and informed consent requirements must be respected.

14. Reader Rights and Responsibilities

Readers may access published articles freely and exercise reuse rights permitted by the applicable license.

Readers are expected to:

  • Provide appropriate scholarly attribution.

  • Respect copyright and licensing conditions.

  • Avoid plagiarism and misrepresentation.

  • Respect third-party intellectual property rights.

  • Avoid misleading use of research findings.

  • Observe applicable restrictions concerning personal or sensitive information.

Open access supports responsible scholarly reuse and does not authorize research misconduct or unlawful disclosure of information.

15. Open Access and Peer Review

The journal's open access model does not alter its commitment to scholarly quality and publication ethics.

Submitted manuscripts must undergo the editorial assessment and applicable peer review procedures established by the journal.

Acceptance decisions must be based on:

  1. Relevance to the journal's scope.

  2. Originality and scholarly contribution.

  3. Methodological rigor.

  4. Accuracy and transparency of reporting.

  5. Ethical compliance.

  6. Adequacy of interpretation and conclusions.

Open access publishing must not compromise the independence of editorial decisions.

16. Publication Fees and Financial Transparency

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku is committed to transparent disclosure of any charges associated with manuscript submission, processing, or publication.

The journal's official Author Fees or Article Processing Charges page should accurately identify whether fees apply.

Where charges exist, the journal should disclose:

  • The type of charge.

  • The amount and applicable currency.

  • The stage at which payment is required.

  • Applicable waivers or exemptions.

  • Any other relevant conditions.

Where no charges apply, the journal should state this clearly.

Authors must not be subjected to undisclosed publication charges.

Payment or financial arrangements must not determine editorial acceptance.

17. No Reader Subscription Fees

Published open access articles are accessible without mandatory subscription payments.

The journal should not impose reader access charges that contradict its stated immediate open access model.

Users should be able to reach published articles through the official journal website without purchasing access.

Technical registration requirements, if any, must not be misrepresented as subscription charges.

18. Open Access and Digital Preservation

The journal recognizes that open access and long-term preservation are complementary responsibilities.

Open access provides immediate availability, while digital preservation seeks to maintain continued access over time.

The journal should maintain appropriate archiving and preservation arrangements, as described in its Archiving Policy.

Participation in specific preservation networks must be stated accurately and supported by verified operational arrangements.

Persistent identifiers and reliable metadata should support the long-term discoverability of published articles.

19. Publication Metadata and Licensing Transparency

The journal should provide clear and consistent licensing information across its publishing platform.

Where applicable, the following should display or accurately communicate the applicable license:

  1. Open Access Policy.

  2. Copyright Notice.

  3. Article landing pages.

  4. Article PDF files.

  5. Publication metadata.

  6. Repository records.

  7. Author Guidelines.

The journal should avoid conflicting statements about copyright ownership, licensing, permitted reuse, and author rights.

Where articles have been published under different license terms, the applicable license for each article should be identifiable.

20. Open Access and Publication Ethics

The journal's open access model must operate consistently with its publication ethics policies.

The journal prohibits practices such as:

  • Misleading statements about licensing.

  • Unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted content.

  • Misrepresentation of author rights.

  • Undisclosed publication charges.

  • Plagiarism.

  • Inappropriate reuse of sensitive research information.

  • Commercial influence over editorial decisions.

Concerns about licensing or intellectual property will be addressed under the journal's relevant policies.

21. Corrections and Retractions

Open access articles remain subject to post-publication evaluation and correction.

When corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions are warranted, the journal should publish appropriate notices and maintain clear links to the affected articles.

Retracted articles should ordinarily remain accessible with prominent identification of their retracted status.

Open access must not be used as a reason to silently remove or conceal material changes to the scholarly record.

The journal's Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections Policy governs these procedures.

22. Accessibility and Equitable Knowledge Dissemination

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku recognizes that open access can reduce financial barriers to scholarly knowledge.

The journal aims to facilitate access to research for:

  • Researchers.

  • Students.

  • Educators.

  • Psychology practitioners.

  • Healthcare professionals.

  • Policymakers.

  • Community organizations.

  • Members of the public.

The journal should seek to maintain accessible article pages, functional document links, and accurate publication information.

Open access contributes to knowledge dissemination but does not guarantee that all users have equal technical or institutional access to digital resources.

23. Policy Review and Continuous Improvement

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku will periodically review this policy to maintain consistency with its actual publishing practices, applicable Creative Commons licensing terms, and relevant COPE guidance.

The journal will seek alignment among its:

  • Copyright Notice.

  • Licensing Policy.

  • Intellectual Property Policy.

  • Author Guidelines.

  • Author Self-Archiving Policy.

  • Archiving Policy.

  • Data and Reproducibility Policy.

  • Publication Ethics and Policies.

Material revisions should be communicated through the journal website.
