Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points,
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

GENERAL GUIDELINES OF MANUSCRIPTS IN JURNAL ILMU PERILAKU (JIP)

Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku is a scientific journal published by the Department of Psychology, Universitas Andalas. Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku provides a platform for researchers, academicians, professionals, practitioners, and students to contribute and share their knowledge in the form of an empirical study or case study. 

A. General Guidance

  • All manuscripts submitted should adhere to American Psychological Association (APA) format, following the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the APA (currently the 7th edition).
  • Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku is published two times a year, in July and December editions.
  • A published paper in Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku is a report study, either using a qualitative or quantitative method by an individual or group of researchers.
  • The thesis or dissertation manuscript must attach the supervisor’s recommendation stating that the manuscript is decent enough to be submitted.
  • The submitted manuscript is an original and has not been published or is in consideration to be published in another journal.
  • The manuscript can be written in Indonesian or English by using correct and proper grammar rules. Manuscripts written in Indonesian should be written in formal Indonesian, as well as for odd words must be translated into Indonesian.
  • The editorial board have the right to revise the received article. The suitability of the paper will be reviewed by the anonymous reviewer, who will be given recommendations on whether the paper is accepted, rejected, or accepted by revision.
  • The author must revise the manuscript according to the revision given by the reviewer (if any). After being revised by the author, the author should submit the revised manuscript within a specific deadline by the Editorial Board. Editorial Board may confirm the article to a style of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, referencing, and usage that it deems appropriate without changing the substance of the article.
  • The manuscript must be submitted through online submission via www.jip.fk.unand.ac.id or to be sent through jurnalilmuperilaku@gmail.com.

 B. Content Structure and Article Systematics 

Contents and systematics of written manuscripts are described narratively using the essay format in paragraph form without subtitle numbering and should contain the following components:

1. Title of the Article

The title should be straightforward, concise, and informative; describing the article’s contents might also be a creative or impressive title to attract the readers. The title should be written in both Indonesian and English. The Indonesian article should state the Indonesian title first, followed by the English title. The maximum limitation of words for Indonesian paper is 14 words, while the English paper is 14 words. 

2. Author’s Name

The author’s full name should be stated without any degrees. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) and corresponding phone or email. The author’s name arrangement should be written based on specific writing contributions, which are coded in the superscript font (e.g. Novrizal1).

3. Abstract

The abstract is written in both Indonesian and English with 1.0 line spacing and a maximum of 200 words summarizing the content of the paper, including the hypothesis, research subject, methodology, and result.

4. Keywords

Keywords are specific words included in the research taken from the research variable, characteristic of the research subject, and referred theory (Please provide three keywords written in alphabetical order). The keywords are arranged based on a prominent word to the supporting word. The author should use “keywords” for the English abstract and “Kata Kunci” for the Indonesian abstract.

5. Introduction 

The introduction should contain an adequate background, stating its purpose and presenting why the research problem is significant. Also, it should clearly set the stage for the present research, indicating gaps in knowledge and presenting the research question or hypothesis. 

6. Method

The method contains variable identification, research subject, research instrument, research methodology, and analysis technique being used in the research.

7. Results

The result of the research consists of descriptive statistics, assumption and hypothesis tests, which are critically analyzed afterwards.

8. Discussion

The discussion explains the result of the research in accordance with the prior study, critically analyzed with currently relevant literature. The discussion should be ended with a conclusion and recommendation.

9. Conclusion

The conclusion contains the answer to the research purpose, not summarizing all the research. This section should be written in a concise, solid, and clear statement based on the result of the study with not more than 5% of the paper’s length.

10. References

References should be written alphabetically, chronologically and using Mendeley. Every resource cited in the manuscript must be stated in the references section and each listed reference should be cited in the manuscript. Below are examples of writing references by the following resources:

C. Writing the Article

1. Authors need to comply with this guidance in preparing their manuscripts:

  • Top and bottom margins: 2 cm
  • Left and right margins: 2 cm
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 12
  • Spacing; Double spacing/2
  • Pages: minimum of 10 and the maximum of 18 pages (including abstracts and references)
  • Paper size: A4

2. Avoid using bullets, numbered lists, or alphabetical lists in articles. Instead, write them up like this: 1) ..., 2) ... etc.
